14th July 2009 - TWO PICTURE PROVIDERS, TWO SETS OF AUDIO AND NOW JUST ONE MAIN SCREEN IN YOUR GANTRY

At last bookmakers can now revert back to just one main gantry screen allowing customers to focus on the next betting event thanks to Alphameric’s fully managed screen and audio switching service, Cyclops.

Cyclops switches both pictures and audio seamlessly between providers. Customers now need only to focus on a single screen in the main TV gantry to view both SIS and TurfTV pictures enabling independent bookmakers to offer the same service to their customers as the majors.

Controlled within Alphameric’s Studio, the main screen will display the TV pictures with prices overlaid for the ‘next race off’ and information areas with latest news or promotions of upcoming betting events. As a ‘race off’ message is received the screen will immediately change to display full screen video giving a vibrant cinematic race experience for the punter.

Race-to-race punters, who patronise betting shops throughout opening hours, usually bet on each event as it is displayed and therefore it is important to retain the customer’s focus on the next event and ensure they have all the information they need to place bets. Cyclops is available to purchase or rent and Alphameric are also offering additional options for bookmakers looking to use the redundant second screen elsewhere in their shops.

Clare adds: “There are several add on solutions available to bookmakers to take their spare second screen and use it to drive additional betting opportunities within their shop. BetVu, placed elsewhere in the shop adds more content and betting information on other sports events such as football. Dynamic Digital Signage, with up to the minute prices fed directly from the Albos system can be placed within the shop window or behind the customer counter to create “spur of the moment” betting opportunities.”
