Leisure
The continuing strong financial performance
of bookmaking companies and the
explosion of Internet betting has
stimulated their interest in technology
solutions across the board. This has
created a demand for a range of new
in-shop
solutions that will help them establish
greater knowledge of their risk profiles
and customers. In addition, there
is demand for systems that can facilitate
the
'one account' concept that consolidates
and makes available at every location
data from all sources of gambling
including Licensed Betting Offices,
telephone
betting and the internet. Because
of our leading position in the market
we are
involved in a number of projects to
deliver these benefits.
A recent initiative is the introduction
by one of the leading bookmaking chains
of a bespoke television channel into
its own Licensed Betting Offices,
offering
live sporting events and betting opportunities
from around the world. This
initiative is based on Alphameric
technology and mirrors our own strategic
goal
to participate more actively in the
provision of data and media to the
industry.
One
particular innovative new Alphameric
product that is now gaining significant
attention amongst bookmakers is our
unmanned till. This is a secure stand-alone
touch screen device located within
the bookmaker's shop that enables
a customer
to place an automated bet. Some of
our bookmaking clients are looking
to pilot a
number of these unmanned tills in
each Licensed Betting Office as a
'queue
busting' device.
